Former Finnish food safety official charged with breach of duty and bribery offences

The Finnish prosecutor’s office has formally charged Olli Wikberg, a former food safety representative, with breach of official duty and bribery, public broadcaster Yle reports.

Wikberg denies the allegations. He previously worked at the Finnish Food Authority, the agency that initially reported the suspected misconduct to police.

Prosecutors investigated Wikberg for potential fraud but ultimately did not file charges on that count.
