Faroese finance committee to review fuel tax hike and hospital expansion plans

The Faroese finance committee will meet on Monday to review proposals to increase the value-added tax on petrol and diesel, according to a report by Kringvarp Føroya.

Invitations have been sent to the Faroese Nature and Environment Association, the Association for Cyclists and Other Sustainable Transport, the Tórshavn Workers’ Union, the Pensioners’ Association, the Car Dealers’ Association, oil companies Magn and Effo, and the Farmers’ Council.

The committee will also assess plans to fund a new building for the patient hotel at the national hospital in Tórshavn. The health and energy minister, along with hospital authorities, have been summoned to the meeting.
