Faroese women’s shelter appoints new director
The Faroese women’s shelter Kvinnuhúsið has named Asløg Schytter Andersen as its new director, effective 1 June, reports Faroese broadcaster Kringvarp Føroya.
Andersen, 38, is Danish but has lived in the Faroe Islands since 2022, currently residing in Skopun. She joins from a role at the national energy company Landsverk, where she worked in communications, leadership consulting, and organisational culture.
A trained anthropologist with a specialisation in gender equality and empowerment, Andersen holds extensive experience in strategic development, project management, and facilitation. Empowerment, she explains, involves strengthening individuals’ sense of agency and capacity. She has previously served as a facilitator and instructor for various groups, including at Kvinnuhúsið, according to the shelter’s announcement.
Eleven candidates applied for the directorship.
