The Faroese Marine Research Institute has announced that fishing vessels will be allocated 265 days on the Faroe Bank in 2026, matching last year’s quota. The decision follows an assessment of groundfish stocks in the area, which remain strong.

According to the allocation, longliners will receive 40 days, large trawlers (15–110 tons) 135 days, and vessels in group five 90 days. Larger vessels will be granted individual fishing days, while smaller boats in group five will share a collective quota, capped per vessel.

The Faroe Bank, a key fishing ground southwest of the islands, is described as in good condition, supporting the unchanged quota for the coming year.
