The Faroese national broadcaster Kringvarp Føroya reports that Claus Birkelyng will take over as chief police inspector on 1 June, succeeding Steen Nørskov.

Birkelyng, 62, will serve directly under the Faroese police commissioner and lead operational policing in the islands. He brings extensive experience in law enforcement to the role.

His appointment follows Nørskov’s transfer to a position in Bornholm, Denmark.
