A 1973-built Icelandic trawler, Ljósafell, has been sold to a Faroese buyer, according to an announcement by the Faroese fishing company Loðnuvinnslan. The buyer’s identity has not been disclosed.

The vessel, constructed in Japan, was recently docked in Fáskrúðsfjörður, Iceland, alongside another trawler of the same name—a newer Danish-built ship from 2010, previously named Þórunn Sveinsdóttir. The older Ljósafell had been moored in Tórshavn harbour before the sale.

Loðnuvinnslan confirmed the acquisition of the newer vessel, which will retain the name Ljósafell.
