Finnish police have carried out a large-scale operation against drug trafficking in Vantaa’s Koivukylä district, detaining multiple individuals, Yle reports.

The operation, led by the Eastern Uusimaa Police Department, took place on Monday in the Hakotorin area and other parts of Koivukylä. According to Chief Inspector Mikael Backlund, the goal was to disrupt ongoing drug sales in the neighbourhood.

Police had observed open drug dealing in the area for some time. During the raid, officers searched several apartments and seized narcotics. Authorities are also examining the residency status of those detained.

The operation involved multiple patrol units and officers from different police divisions.
