A middle-aged woman was found dead in a private apartment in Siuntio, southern Finland, on Sunday, with police suspecting severe injuries caused by a dog, reports public broadcaster Yle.

According to a statement from Western Uusimaa Police, the woman had sustained serious bite wounds across her body. Authorities believe the injuries were inflicted by a dog present in the apartment but have not yet determined whether the attack occurred while the woman was alive or after her death.

Police have ruled out foul play and are treating the case as a death investigation. The dog suspected of involvement has been euthanised, while other dogs found at the scene—whose movement was restricted—are not believed to have caused harm.

The official cause of death remains undisclosed as confidential information.
