Police in Helsinki are investigating three underage suspects in connection with a deliberate fire that destroyed eight cars in the Roihuvuori district during Easter, Yle reports. The suspects—two aged 16 and one aged 14—are under investigation for aggravated criminal damage.

The fire, which broke out in an open-sided carport in early April, completely destroyed eight vehicles and damaged four others parked nearby. Authorities have ruled out earlier speculation that flammable liquids or fireworks were involved, though the exact cause remains undisclosed while the investigation continues.

During the probe, police examined the suspects’ phones and uncovered footage depicting violent acts, including an assault on another minor with humiliating elements. These findings have led to separate investigations for assault and possession of violent imagery.

Earlier reports described the blaze as one of Helsinki’s most severe carport fires in recent years, with eyewitnesses recounting a loud explosion at the scene.
