A high-pressure system will bring summer-like temperatures to large parts of Norway this week, with forecasts predicting up to 20°C in some regions, Dagbladet reports.

Duty meteorologist Marit Kollstuen confirmed that central and southern areas—particularly inland Eastern Norway—could see temperatures exceeding 20°C by Friday. “This is definitely a taste of summer, so people should get out and enjoy the sun,” she said.

The warm spell follows last week’s brief heatwave, though temperatures dipped over the weekend. Kollstuen noted that while a slight cooldown may occur after this week, the overall trend points toward rising temperatures as summer approaches.

UV levels are already reaching 3 on the index between 11 AM and 3 PM, prompting warnings to use sunscreen. “We know spring sunlight can be strong,” Kollstuen added.

Meanwhile, northern Norway faces contrasting conditions, with Arctic cold fronts bringing snowfall to Nordland, Troms, and Finnmark. Up to 20 cm of snow is expected locally, creating hazardous driving conditions. Police in Troms have urged drivers with summer tires to leave vehicles parked, as the sudden snowfall follows an unusually mild April.

Snowfall is forecast to ease by Tuesday, transitioning to rain as temperatures gradually rise later in the week.
