A Faroese man has been sentenced to two years in prison for multiple counts of rape and privacy violations, according to a ruling reported by Faroese national broadcaster Kringvarp Føroya.

The 27-year-old man, born in 1999, admitted guilt and voluntarily reported his crimes to police. He was convicted of three rapes and one attempted rape, all involving the same woman in 2021, as well as privacy violations for taking unauthorised photographs. The court imposed a 1.5-year suspended sentence and six months of unconditional imprisonment.

Since the offences occurred before the Faroese consent-based sexual offence laws took effect, the case was judged under the legal framework in place at the time.

In a separate case, another man, born in 2001, was remanded in custody for 14 days on 12 April on suspicion of rape involving a girl born in 2007. The detention was extended without a court hearing after the suspect admitted to the allegations. The investigation remains ongoing, with further details restricted due to the constitutional review process.
