Work on around 45 student apartments at Eirargarður 2 in the Faroese capital will face further delays, housing minister Margit Stórá confirmed to public broadcaster Kringvarp Føroya on Saturday.

The minister will meet next week with Bústaðir, the public housing agency responsible for the project, to discuss the ongoing construction issues. The agency’s director, Jógvan Ósá, had already warned in February that the original timeline—aiming for completion by the start of the academic year—would not be met.

It remains unclear when the apartments will be ready for occupancy, Stórá said. The building, managed by the state-owned housing developer Bústøður, was intended to provide much-needed student accommodation in central Tórshavn.
