Swedish party leader opens up about parenting insecurities
Sweden’s Christian Democrats leader Ebba Busch has spoken openly about her struggles with self-doubt as a parent, admitting she knows her children will “carry some trauma” from her role in public life.
In an appearance on SVT’s Fördomsshowen (The Prejudice Show), Busch described feeling most uncertain about her abilities as a mother, saying, “One day, they’ll sit in front of their potential life partner and talk about it.”
Busch, who leads the centre-right Christian Democrats (KD), also addressed perceptions of her as uncompromising. While she acknowledged being well-prepared and confident in professional settings, she rejected the idea that she is inflexible in all areas of life.
“When I have to deliver, I’ve prepared. Then I know my stuff. Then I have self-confidence and feel secure,” she said. “But that doesn’t mean I’m always so determined in every situation or can’t change my mind.”
The full interview is available on SVT Play or will air on SVT1 on Friday at 22:00 local time.
