Two passenger trains collide head-on in Denmark leaving 17 injured
A head-on collision between two local trains on a single-track line north of Copenhagen early Thursday morning has left 17 people injured, five of them critically, Danish public broadcaster DR reports.
The accident occurred on the Gribskov railway line near Hillerød when the two trains, travelling in opposite directions, collided on the same track. Emergency services from the Capital Region of Denmark confirmed that all injured passengers have been transported to hospitals for treatment.
An investigation into how the trains ended up on the same stretch of single-track line is underway.
