New Faroese news site uses AI to simplify news reading
A new Faroese news website, Punktum.fo, aims to make it easier for readers to stay informed without spending excessive time, Faroese public broadcaster Kringvarp Føroya reports.
The site provides concise, clear summaries of current news from both the Faroe Islands and abroad. Founders Heini Festirstein and Eyðstein Johannesen say they want to address the problem of lengthy and complex news writing while also promoting the Faroese language through AI technology.
Using artificial intelligence, the platform gathers news from reliable sources and presents it in a simple, easy-to-read format. All articles can also be listened to, allowing users to catch up on news while multitasking. Transparency is a priority, with sources always clearly visible.
Festirstein and Johannesen discussed the project in a morning broadcast on Kringvarp Føroya, available here.
