Two people—a 44-year-old man and a 24-year-old woman—have been remanded in custody on suspicion of homicide following a violent death in Turku’s Lauste district, Finnish public broadcaster Yle reports.

The male victim died from injuries sustained in an attack on Tuesday at a residential building on Pormestarinkatu street. According to police, the killing took place inside a private apartment before the body was dragged outside in broad daylight. Yle’s sources indicate the crime occurred in the home of the detained man.

Investigators have not disclosed the relationship between the two suspects. Four individuals were initially taken into custody in connection with the case, though only the man and woman remain under formal arrest requests. “All four are still detained, and their involvement is under active investigation,” said Tuomas Järvenpää, lead investigator for Southwest Finland Police.

Neighbours told Yle the male suspect had a history of disruptive behaviour in the building, prompting repeated complaints and calls to emergency services over the past year. The property management company confirmed ongoing efforts to legally evict the tenant. Court records show both suspects have faced prior charges, including for robbery and drug offences, though the man has no recent convictions for violent crimes.

Police interrogations are ongoing, with the investigation in its early stages.
