Kerava city procurement of exercise stick sets under investigation by prosecutor

The prosecutor will now review allegations of misconduct in Kerava’s €100,000 purchase of exercise stick sets, following a police investigation that identified multiple suspected offences, reports Yle.

Eastern Uusimaa Police have completed their preliminary investigation into the city’s procurement process, which included a wellness service package, exercise sticks, and storage bags. The case involves suspected breaches of official duty, with investigators declining to specify whether three, four, or five individuals are under suspicion.

The probe examined whether the city bypassed mandatory competitive tendering. The suspected violations date to summer 2023 and led to the cancellation of the entire purchase in 2024.

Separately, investigators looked into the Keppi & Porkkana pilot project, valued at €36,000, which also lacked proper procurement or official decisions. Police suspect one individual in this case of abuse of office and providing false information about the decision-making process. Both matters will now proceed to prosecution consideration.
