Barcelona and Mallorca top Faroese travellers’ summer holiday lists

Faroe Islanders prioritise direct flights and relaxation when choosing summer destinations, with Barcelona and Mallorca emerging as the most popular choices, reports Faroese broadcaster Kringvarp Føroya.

Travel agents Rut Brend and Erna Jacobsen, who work at the Faroese travel agencies 62N and Fonn Flog, say convenience and comfort drive holiday decisions. “It needs to be quick and easy to get there, and the hotel should be nice,” they explain.

Barcelona and Mallorca’s appeal is strengthened by Atlantic Airways’ direct routes, making them familiar and hassle-free options for many Faroese travellers. “More people have been to these places before, so for them, it’s a straightforward and uncomplicated choice,” says Brend.

The trend reflects a broader preference for well-connected destinations where travellers can easily unwind.
