Finnish hiking influencer Ali Leiniö dies at 49 during ski trek in Lapland

Ali Leiniö, a well-known Finnish hiking and outdoor influencer, has died at the age of 49, Finnish public broadcaster Yle reports.

Leiniö died suddenly from a medical emergency while on a skiing trek in Lapland in early April. His body was found in the wilderness, according to sources close to him.

Leiniö began his outdoor activities in his thirties and gained a large following by sharing hiking videos on YouTube, where he had over 86,000 subscribers. His self-taught videography attracted hundreds of thousands of Finnish viewers.

In 2022, he was named Travel Influencer of the Year at the Tubecon Awards. Yle interviewed Leiniö in 2020 about his work documenting nature and outdoor life.
