The Faroese Equality Board has criticised the gender imbalance in leadership roles within parliamentary committees, where seven men hold chair positions compared to just one woman, Kringvarp Føroya reports.

Brandur Mortensen Nolsøe, chair of the Equality Board, stated that gender equality should be viewed as a societal obligation rather than a matter affecting only individuals or specific groups. The board advises public authorities, organisations, and individuals on equality issues and provides recommendations in related cases.

Currently, the Faroese Parliament’s committees have seven male chairs and only one female chair.
