A detached house was completely destroyed by fire in Ylikiiminki, Oulu, early on Wednesday morning, according to a report by Finnish public broadcaster Yle. The family inside escaped unharmed after waking to the sound of the blaze.

The North Ostrobothnia Rescue Department received an emergency call about the fire on Juopulintie road at around 11 p.m. on Tuesday. By the time firefighters arrived, the roof of the building was fully engulfed in flames.

Attempts at initial fire suppression were impossible due to the rapid spread of the fire. Rescue crews were forced to dismantle parts of the roof and walls to extinguish the blaze. The interior of the house also suffered severe damage, leaving the building uninhabitable.

Firefighting operations continued until early morning. The cause of the fire remains unknown due to the extensive damage, and investigations into the origin of the blaze are ongoing.
