Hartwall to end Pepsi production in Finland by 2028
Finnish beverage company Hartwall will cease production and distribution of PepsiCo drinks in Finland at the end of 2028, following the expiration of its current contract, Yle reports.
The partnership between Hartwall and PepsiCo, which began in 1999, includes brands such as Pepsi, 7UP, and Mountain Dew. Production and distribution of these drinks will end when the agreement concludes in late 2028.
Hartwall’s parent company, Royal Unibrew, will also terminate its collaboration with PepsiCo in Denmark and the Baltic states at the same time. According to Hartwall CEO Kalle Järvinen, the company had hoped to continue the partnership, but negotiations failed to yield a new agreement.
PepsiCo products currently account for about 13 percent of Royal Unibrew’s revenue, including cross-border sales to Germany. Hartwall will maintain its carbonated drink offerings after 2028, though the company acknowledges the category’s gradual decline in the beverage market.
