Hermann Samuelsen becomes new MP for Union Party in Faroe Islands
The 24-year-old Hermann Samuelsen has taken a seat in the Faroese Parliament (Løgting) for the Union Party (Sambandsflokkurin), replacing Anna Falkenberg, who has taken leave to attend the Danish Parliament (Folketing) session, Kringvarp Føroya reports.
Samuelsen, who was 10th on the Union Party’s candidate list, received 258 votes in the parliamentary election. He formally assumed his seat on Monday, April 20, 2026.
Falkenberg, who had served as an alternate MP for the party, requested leave after Bárður á Steig Nielsen and Eyðdis Hartmann Niclasen joined the Faroese government.
“My daily life has changed a lot now that I’m an MP,” Samuelsen told Kringvarp Føroya.
