Man in 20s arrested for series of violent assaults in Oslo region
A man in his 20s has been remanded in custody for four weeks on suspicion of multiple violent assaults in Oslo, Asker, and Bærum, Norwegian police confirmed to Dagbladet on Saturday. The suspect, who denies all charges, was previously linked to a similar attack in December 2025.
Police arrested the man on Saturday after identifying him as a suspect through telecom data and victim descriptions. He is accused of six assaults—including four against elderly women—with investigators examining a potential seventh case from 2025. A fourth incident, involving an attempted sexual assault in Oslo, is being treated as aggravated robbery after the attack was interrupted.
“My client does not admit guilt to any of the alleged offenses,” defense attorney Brit Kjelleberg told Dagbladet following the custody hearing in Oslo District Court. The suspect has refused to cooperate with police questioning, according to prosecutors.
Police prosecutor Ellen Alvilde Arge stated that forensic evidence, including a baton-like weapon allegedly used in at least two attacks, was seized during a search of the suspect’s home. Authorities have not ruled out additional charges as the investigation continues.
The assaults occurred between April 9 and April 16, targeting women aged 70 to 93 in residential and park areas. The suspect has no prior convictions for violent crimes but remains under investigation for the 2025 incident, which could expand the scope of the case.
“We cannot exclude further charges or new reports,” Arge said, urging the public to contact police with any relevant information.
