Helgi Abrahamsen elected as new chair of Faroese finance committee
The Faroese Parliament, Løgtingið, has appointed former employment minister Helgi Abrahamsen as the new chair of its finance committee, Kringvarp Føroya reports.
Ben Arabo, a new member of the left-wing party, will chair the labour committee, while Súsanna Bertholdsen will lead the cultural affairs committee. The appointments were confirmed after prolonged uncertainty, as the Union Party had previously stated no final decision had been made.
The Union Party already holds the chairmanship of the constitutional affairs committee, though that role carries less weight than the finance committee position. The parliamentary session was temporarily suspended on Monday afternoon due to opposition delays and is set to resume at 15:40.
