Hermann Samuelsen temporarily replaces MP Onna Falkenberg in Faroese parliament

Hermann Samuelsen has taken a seat in the Faroese parliament, the Løgting, as a temporary replacement for Onna Falkenberg, who is now serving in the Danish Folketing, Kringvarp Føroya reports.

The parliament approved the substitution after Falkenberg, who received 272 votes in the March 26 Løgting election, was elected to the Folketing with 5,303 votes. She subsequently requested leave from the Løgting during her term in Denmark’s parliament.

Samuelsen, who was 10th on the Union Party’s (Sambandsflokkurin) candidate list in the Løgting election, received 258 votes. He also serves as a member of Klaksvík’s municipal council.

Falkenberg had initially entered parliament as a substitute following the formation of the Faroese government.
