Car explosion in Malmö damages apartment building

A car explosion in Malmö early Sunday morning blew a hole through the wall of a nearby apartment building, Swedish public broadcaster SVT Nyheter reports.

The blast occurred at 3:14 AM local time near the Hindby area, according to emergency services. No injuries were reported, though the explosion was heard across large parts of the city, Sydsvenskan newspaper reported.

Police took one individual into custody from the building, with local media stating the person became violent during the arrest. The cause of the explosion remains under investigation.
