Traffic delays after truck crash on E18 in Lier

A truck crash on the E18 motorway near Lier in Buskerud county has caused significant delays, with one lane closed and long queues forming, reports Norwegian road traffic authorities.

According to the Norwegian Road Traffic Centre, the accident occurred early Saturday morning when a truck left the road and struck a guardrail near Tranby. No serious injuries have been reported, police confirmed.

The southbound lane between Tranby and Kjellstad has been closed since 5:30 AM, with cleanup operations underway. Traffic is being diverted from Tranby junction, causing delays of up to 40 minutes, said traffic operator Sofie Knutsen.

Dagbladet’s reporter at the scene described a “massive queue starting before Lierstranda, moving at a snail’s pace,” with motorists filling side roads, creating further congestion.

Authorities estimate the road will reopen in approximately 1.5 hours.
