Archaeologists have discovered a well-preserved section of a road dating back several hundred years in western Zealand, but the historic find will be demolished to make way for a new motorway, reports Danish broadcaster DR.

The team from Museum Vestsjælland estimates the road was used by horse-drawn carriages travelling to and from Kalundborg until the late 1700s. After documenting the site, the ancient route will be replaced by modern infrastructure as part of the ongoing construction of the Kalundborg motorway.
