Five young people rescued after boat capsizes in central Finland

A group of five young people were rescued after their boat capsized in Mänttä-Vilppula, central Finland, on Friday evening, reports public broadcaster Yle, citing Pirkanmaa’s emergency services.

The incident occurred on Lake Ukonselkä when the group’s old rowboat, unable to support their weight, began to sink. All five ended up in the water before a passing boater assisted them into their own vessel.

Emergency services helped transport the group to shore and arranged medical checks. Authorities praised the quick actions of the bystander, whose intervention significantly aided the rescue.

The condition of those involved was not immediately reported.
