A 450-year-old baptismal font has been stolen from Vedersø Church in western Denmark, just days before a scheduled christening, reports DR Nyheder.

The bronze font, dating back to 1570, disappeared after unknown perpetrators entered the church, which remains unlocked during daylight hours. The theft was discovered when the family of baby Aksel arrived for his planned baptism.

Local police have launched an investigation but have not yet identified suspects or recovered the historic artifact.
