Police investigation into suspected homicide in Laukaa expected to take months
The Central Finland Police Department has announced that the investigation into a suspected homicide in Laukaa will continue for several more months, according to a report by Finnish public broadcaster Yle.
A 68-year-old woman went missing in Tarvaala, Laukaa, in mid-March. On 26 March, police confirmed she had been found dead. Authorities stated they suspected foul play and detained one individual in connection with the case.
The following day, the Central Finland District Court remanded the woman’s 81-year-old husband in custody on suspicion of murder. The court cited reasonable grounds for suspicion but did not classify the detention as based on probable cause. The man was later released after the court determined there was no longer sufficient justification for his continued detention.
Police have not disclosed further details but indicated they will provide updates once additional forensic and investigative reports are completed. The process is expected to take several months.
The suspected homicide is believed to have occurred between 11 and 13 March in Laukaa.
