Man in critical condition after stabbing in Askim investigated as attempted murder

Police are investigating a stabbing in Askim, eastern Norway, as an attempted murder after a man was found with life-threatening injuries early Friday morning, Dagbladet reports.

The victim, described as of foreign origin, was discovered outdoors by passersby around 3:00 AM. He was rushed to Ullevål Hospital for emergency surgery, according to police prosecutor Jahn Schei.

“Given that the victim was stabbed, it is reasonable to assume we are dealing with a criminal act,” Schei told the newspaper. No arrests have been made, and the victim has not yet been questioned. Police have no suspects at this stage.

Investigators are working around the clock, Schei confirmed, with efforts set to continue through the weekend. The victim’s legal representative declined to comment when contacted by Dagbladet.
