SEV to acquire 30 percent of Krossin Football Stadium in Sumba for solar energy expansion
SEV is set to acquire nearly 30 percent of the Krossin Football Stadium in Sumba for solar panel installation.
The local council in Sumba has agreed to negotiate a new contract with SEV, as the current agreement, established in 2019, will expire in December.
SEV began its solar energy initiatives at Krossin in 2019 and currently possesses rights to half of the stadium. However, the company is now seeking to gain control over the entire facility.
The municipality also utilizes a portion of the field. The council decided to offer SEV approximately 80 percent of the stadium since the municipality currently uses—and may continue to use—part of it, according to Eyðbjørn Thomsen, the mayor.
The nursery school in Sumba is located at Krossin. However, SEV has yet to receive the necessary building permits. Negotiations for a new agreement must take place first.
In the past week, solar energy generated at Krossin accounted for 1.2 percent of the electricity in Suðuroyn.
