A mysterious light phenomenon was reported in the night sky across Norway, Sweden, and Finland early Friday morning, according to Norwegian newspaper Dagbladet and Swedish outlet Expressen.

Witnesses in Norway described the light as moving across the sky, with police patrols comparing it to descending headlights. “It moved across the sky, and the patrol officers almost felt like it was headlights coming down toward the ground,” police officer Casey Causevic told Dagbladet.

Swedish authorities suggested the phenomenon was likely caused by a rocket launch outside Sweden’s borders. Finnish police confirmed sightings in their country, attributing the lights to a Russian space rocket that posed no public threat.

Russian media reported that a rocket was launched overnight from the Plesetsk Cosmodrome in northwestern Russia, commissioned by the country’s Defense Ministry, according to Expressen.
