Finland seeks over €9.5 million in EU funding to boost underwater cable repair capacity
Finland is applying for €9.55 million in EU funding to strengthen the repair capacity of underwater communication and energy cables, the Ministry of Transport and Communications announced on Monday.
The project, coordinated by the National Emergency Supply Agency, involves partners from Sweden and Estonia. Its goal is to reduce repair times for cable damage during both normal disruptions and emergency conditions.
A key objective is ensuring at least one fully operational cable repair vessel is available in the Baltic Sea region to quickly address any cable faults.
