The popular Faroese nature series Sært tú fuglin? will premiere its third season on April 16, broadcaster Kringvarp Føroya (KVF) announced. Hosts Silas Olofson, Tróndur Herason Olsen, and cameraman Hallur E. Thomsen return to explore the Faroe Islands’ birdlife, this time including a special expedition to the Faroe Bank.

Building on previous seasons, the new episodes will follow birds during spring and summer migrations, winter habitats, and a dedicated voyage to document seabirds and marine life. “We’ve planned to highlight new bird species and visit locations we haven’t been to before,” Olofson said. “There will be plenty of fresh discoveries.”

The team emphasized the series’ core mission: showcasing the birds that surround—and sometimes go unnoticed by—residents. “With Silas’s footage, viewers can experience the birds up close, even when they fly away,” Olsen noted. The season will feature first-time visits to most locations, except for a return to Suðuroy.

Memorable moments from filming included spotting a rare bird while driving at 80 km/h and a rich expedition to the Faroe Bank, teeming with birds, fish, and whales. “Weather and seasons shape each episode,” Olsen said, “but we also capture everything else we encounter—seals, whales, fish, sunsets—while searching for birds.”

The hosts hope the series will inspire viewers to engage with nature. “We want people to be moved by the birds and landscapes,” Olofson said, “and perhaps feel encouraged to explore and protect the natural world.”

The first episode airs on April 16 at 19:30 on KVF Sjónvarp, with replays available on KVF’s streaming platform.
