Police have identified the 76-year-old man found dead by divers following a boat capsizing in Larvik municipality on Monday, reports Dagbladet.

The body of Ragnar Bjørnø was recovered after emergency services launched a search operation in Stokksundet using a rescue helicopter, firefighter divers, and police drones. The capsized vessel was discovered Monday morning, with Bjørnø—who owned the boat and was reportedly alone at the time—found deceased around 10 a.m.

Preliminary investigations suggest the incident was an accident, according to police prosecutor Lise Dalhaug. “We are awaiting the autopsy report, but current findings indicate this was a tragic accident resulting in the boat operator’s death,” Dalhaug stated. Bjørnø was a resident of Porsgrunn, and his name was released with the consent of his next of kin.
