Man stabbed in suspected attempted murder in Haninge near Stockholm

A man has been airlifted to hospital after being stabbed in Haninge, south of Stockholm, in what police are treating as an attempted murder, Swedish public broadcaster SVT reports.

The incident occurred in the Vega district on Tuesday evening. Police were alerted just after 7 pm after the injured man was found outdoors by a passerby, according to Carina Skagerlind, a police press spokesperson.

“We believe the crime may have taken place inside a residence, and that he left the scene afterwards,” Skagerlind said. The victim was conscious and able to speak when transported by helicopter ambulance.

A residence has been cordoned off, and one person has been taken in for questioning. Police have not released further details about the suspect or the victim’s condition.

The investigation remains ongoing.
