Kokkola homicide case moves to prosecution consideration
The Kokkola police investigation into the February killing of a 30-year-old woman has concluded, with prosecutors now reviewing whether to formally charge her 30-year-old partner, who has admitted to the crime, public broadcaster Yle reports.
The woman was found dead in an apartment on Ouluntie in Kokkola. The suspect, who was detained shortly after the incident, is also accused of disturbing the peace of the dead—a charge linked to post-mortem violence against the victim—and payment fraud.
Investigators believe the victim died from strangulation. The case must now be assessed for prosecution by May 5, 2026, under Finnish statutory deadlines.
The suspect has a prior criminal record. He was arrested in early February after police linked him to the homicide and the subsequent disturbance of the victim’s remains.
