The Eastern Finland Administrative Court has overturned the decision by Savonlinna city council to dismiss city manager Janne Laine, ruling that his consultation in the matter was inadequate and the case was not properly investigated, Yle reports.

Laine was set to be removed from his position in April 2025. The court found that the city council failed to ensure a thorough and appropriate examination of the case before making its decision.

The ruling does not address the substance of the allegations against Laine, only the procedural errors in his dismissal process.

Yle notes that further updates to the story may follow.
