Train traffic on most of Denmark’s Zealand region remains severely disrupted after two overhead power lines failed—one at Copenhagen Central Station and another east of Ringsted—halting nearly all services except S-trains, state rail operator Banedanmark confirmed Tuesday.
According to Nicolai Smidt Sigsgaard, deputy traffic director at Banedanmark, crews are working urgently to identify the fault and restore operations. “We are now examining the entire overhead line system on Zealand to locate the issue,” he told public broadcaster DR.
Where trains are running
Limited services remain operational on the following routes:
Between Roskilde and Kalundborg Between Odense and CopenhagenWhere trains remain suspended
No services are operating on these key routes:
Copenhagen Central – Helsingør Copenhagen Central – Copenhagen Airport Køge – Næstved Copenhagen – Roskilde – Ringsted – Nykøbing FalsterReplacement bus services
Rail operator DSB has deployed substitute buses on three routes:
Klampenborg–Helsingør (all stations), with limited train service expected to resume soon, according to DSB communications chief Tony Bispeskov Høje Taastrup–Roskilde (stopping at Hedehusene and Trekroner) Køge Nord–Ringsted (hourly in both directions until approximately 23:00)DSB warns that replacement buses will not cover all affected routes and advises passengers to seek alternative transport. Extensive delays and cancellations are expected to continue, with disruptions likely to persist into Wednesday.
The cause of the overhead line failures remains unidentified, and Banedanmark has not yet provided an estimate for when normal service will resume.
