Russian foreign minister Lavrov arrives in Beijing for talks with China

Russian foreign minister Sergey Lavrov has arrived in Beijing to meet China’s top diplomat Wang Yi, state media reported Tuesday.

The two officials will discuss the war in Ukraine and the situation in the Middle East, according to Russia’s foreign ministry. Talks will also cover “exchanging views and coordinating positions on the development of bilateral relations, cooperation in various fields, and international and regional issues of mutual interest,” China’s foreign ministry stated.

Lavrov and Wang recently agreed to collaborate on reducing tensions in the Middle East, Swedish news agency TT reported.

The visit follows ongoing diplomatic coordination between Moscow and Beijing amid global conflicts.
