The Faroe Islands has inaugurated its newest parliament, the Løgting, featuring the youngest prime minister and youngest member in its history, reports Kringvarp Føroya.
Photographer Bjarni Á. Rubeksen captured the moment as the newly elected representatives took their seats on April 13, 2026. The images show a mix of fresh faces and returning members, marking a generational shift in Faroese politics.
The newly formed government includes a diverse group of lawmakers, among them Beinir Johannesen, Johan Dahl, Jørgin Niclasen, and Aksel V. Johannesen. The parliament also welcomes first-time representatives such as Liljan Weihe, Bjørg Brynhildardóttir Egholm, and Hervør Pálsdóttir.
Other members include Magni Højgaard, Anna Falkenberg, Astrid Breckmann, Erhard Joensen, Sirið Stenberg, and Sunnvá Dahl Høgfeldt, alongside returning politicians like Jenis av Rana, Steffan Klein Poulsen, and Bjørt Lind.
The inauguration follows the 2026 general election, which has brought a wave of new leadership to the North Atlantic archipelago’s legislative body.
