Faroese independence party regains parliamentary seat
The Faroese Independence Party (Sjálvstýri) has returned to the Faroese parliament after its leader, Sámal Petur í Grund, was sworn in on Monday, national broadcaster Kringvarp Føroya reports.
The party secured a single seat in the 26 March general election, marking its return to parliament after losing representation in the 2022 vote. Sámal Petur í Grund, who previously served as party leader, has now resumed his role as a member of the Løgting, the Faroese parliament.
Former party chairman Lasse Klein, who has held positions as both a parliamentarian and government minister for Sjálvstýri, was among those who campaigned for the party’s return. He currently serves as the party’s secretary.
