Faroese public housing minister Margit Stórá has described the sudden shift in political alliances as “strange,” following the formation of a new government, Faroese broadcaster Kringvarp Føroya reports.

Speaking to the national broadcaster, Stórá—who now oversees public and housing affairs—said she must adjust to working with former opponents while former allies have become part of the opposition. “It’s strange that those you’ve cooperated with for many years suddenly become the opposition, while those who have been in opposition—and often obstructed efforts—are now the ones you must work with,” she stated.

Stórá highlighted the long-standing bloc politics in the Faroe Islands, where parties have aligned consistently for or against each other for years. Her first priority as minister will be to address housing benefit reforms in the Faroese parliament, the Løgting.
