Faroese minister of culture commits to improving special education
Newly appointed Faroese minister of culture Bárður á Lakjuni has pledged to prioritise special education, calling it a key focus area, national broadcaster Kringvarp Føroya reports.
Speaking to the broadcaster, Bárður acknowledged the heavy workload ahead in his new role, which covers culture, education, and church affairs. “Not every day will be like this—I know there’s a lot of work waiting for me,” he said.
He described his first hours in office as intense, noting that the ministry’s responsibilities extend far beyond its name. “It’s called the Ministry of Culture, but it also includes development, education, and church matters—there’s a lot under that umbrella,” he explained.
When asked about his priorities, Bárður highlighted special education as a personal passion. “I’m deeply committed to special education and hope to make real progress in that area,” he said.
