Two young drivers caught speeding at nearly double the limit

Two young drivers in the Faroe Islands were caught speeding at nearly double the legal limit during a police traffic check on Saturday night, reports Faroese broadcaster Kringvarp Føroya.

Police conducted traffic monitoring on Glyvursvegur in Argir, where officers recorded one driver travelling at 97 km/h and another at 89 km/h in a 50 km/h zone. Both had held their licences for less than three years.

The drivers received immediate driving bans, meaning their vehicles were left at the scene. They must now retake their driving tests—covering both practical driving and theory—before regaining their licences. Additionally, they face a fine of one sector unit, a local penalty measure.
