The city of Kajaani has dismissed a €640 bid for the protected childhood home of former Finnish president Urho Kekkonen, calling the offer far too low, Yle reports. The property will now be relisted for auction.

The stone-and-wood building at Kalliokatu 7, originally constructed in the 1910s as a residence and later converted into offices in 1980, has no current use for the city. A municipal board meeting on April 14 will finalise the decision to reject the bid.

Previous attempts to sell the property failed after the asking price was gradually reduced from €200,000 to €110,000. When no suitable buyer emerged, the city opted for an auction. Of the 15 bids received, the highest was just €640.
