Police investigate former employee in North Ostrobothnia over breach of confidentiality
Police are investigating a former employee of the North Ostrobothnia welfare area over allegations of breach of confidentiality and unauthorized dissemination of private information. The Pohde organization announced on Tuesday that it had filed a complaint with the police regarding the matter, which involves its family and social services as well as Oulu University Hospital’s psychiatric department.
The Oulu police recorded a criminal report on June 17. According to Pohde, the employee is suspected of disclosing confidential client information to third parties. This information pertains to clients with whom the employee had established relationships. Furthermore, the employee is also alleged to have improperly accessed the records of 13 clients within social and healthcare databases.
Chief Inspector Janne Koskela stated that police actions have been initiated, although no individuals have been interviewed yet. “We are also investigating whether the suspect may have committed additional confidentiality offenses,” Koskela remarked. As the investigation progresses, police are working in collaboration with Pohde.
